Vintage Books as Display Pieces...

photo from imagine-this.com.au

Old hardcover books look great as display pieces on coffee tables, side tables and bed side tables etc. A little stack...one here...one there...and in bundles tied with string or ribbon. The delightful books I've featured here exude charm and character and are from the early 1900's. Click to enlarge the two photos below, the artwork on the covers is so beautiful.

  1. I love books and have collected old ones for a while. I tend to pick the ones iwth pretty covers rather than worry toomcuh what's inside. They've been sitting on a shelf for years now but I love the idea of tying them in bundles and displaying them. A crative project for this afternoon. thanks for sharing the pictures and idea. Hope hyou're having a good week.

  4. I love old books and I have a small collection of some old books. My mother has a whole library of old books and come to think of it, I should get over there and ask her for a couple. I like the way you show them tied with the string. That is nice! Have a nice weekend!

  6. Hi I'm visiting from SITS. Your display is very pretty. I would also like to see some tied them w/ floppy wide satin ribbon, too. Maybe I'm just too girly..

  9. There is something about old books that makes you feel "at home." My Mom collected books for many years and loved Grace Livingston Hill and Pearl Buck. When she passed away I selected a few from her shelves to keep forever. She instilled in me the love of reading and imagination. Your finds are wonderful. I love your blog.

  12. Fabulous! I love antiques and used old books as display pieces in the house where I grew up. It's making me nostalgic now just looking at your display pieces. Love it! Btw, hop on over to my blog and join the blog hop hosted by Mc Klinky featuring the first person who commented on your blog with award. See you there! :)

  13. I love decorating with old books! I even like the ones with no covers all tied together with vintage seam binding...I've been seeing a lot of that lately and it's a great way to salvage a vintae book that has lost it's cover!

    Happy Tuesday!

    :) T

  14. I love to display old books too. I found some from the 1940's to go with my "Casablanca" (movie) theme in my formal living room and dinning room.
