First Lady

Purchased at a cent sale for 10 cents when I was 5 years old, this lovely porcelain lady was the first vintage thing I ever purchased! I purchased her as a gift for my Mum and she is one of Mum's favourite things.

This lady is a mystery lady. Her maker is unknown and she has remained nameless until recently. I was taking these photos of her the other day at my parents place and was thinking about a suitable name for her. Among a few other names the name Dorie came to mind. When I looked up the name Dorie I found out that it can be short for Eudora which means "good gift". How perfect! So Eudora is her name now!

Happy rest of the week everyone! See you next week! :)

  5. Isn't it funny how our thoughts about things change them and provide a link from them to us, becoming meaningful. My parents were into royal doulton figurines and I remember all the thoughts I had as a little girl about all their pieces, their poses and the expressions on their faces! Eudora looks so happy! Hope you are keeping really well!

  7. I know your mom loves her gift, I have a similiar story. One of my favorite gifts is a pin/brooch my 5 year old daughter bought for me at her first neighborhood garage sale. Glad to hear her name matches her.

  10. What a pretty lady. I'm sure she is most precious to your mom. My mom still talks about the flour sifter I bought her because I walked to the mall and bought it at Sears. Such sweet memories.
