On my modern brown couch/sofa I have five throw cushions and they all have covers made from fabulous vintage fabrics.
William Morris (1834-1896) was an influential English designer. I love fabrics and anything really with William Morris designs and William Morris style designs. I purchased the five cushion covers above from an online shop, William Morris Cushion Covers (link is at the end of the post). The second cushion cover from the left features a design by William Morris. The other four cushion covers are made from William Morris style fabrics.
Close-ups of the five cushion covers above from left to right:
"Bachelors Button" vintage linen fabric by Arthur Sanderson and Sons (original screenprint designed by William Morris).
A variety of fabulous vintage cushion covers can be found at William Morris Cushion Covers, and for a limited time cushion covers made from vintage Alice in Wonderland fabric by Charles Voysey are for sale. Here's the link:
I ADORE William Morris designs. I even have part of his chrysanthemum design tattooed on myself! Thanks for the link!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a student I studied William Morris and his designs. I went to his home in Walthamstow London with my mum, as we both love his designs. It was wonderful to see the hand-painted wallpaper on the walls. I love his statement that its important to have only things that we believe to be beautiful or useful in our homes. Your cushion covers are beautiful and useful (!) and look fab grouped together like that. I hope you're having a great week Carla. Hugs, Emma.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to decide what cushions to buy from Marie. they are all so beautiful. lots more about william morris at

I love these designs! It reminds me of my grandmother's old handbag.
ReplyDeleteI just received the vintage Alice in Wonderland pillowcases that I ordered for my daughter, Margaret. She is in LA, an actress who also has a party company, Enchanted Party Tales, where one of her characters is Alice in Wonderland. She has always loved these stories and has a collection of Alice in Wonderland tea sets, books and other related items. Plus she looks like Alice-see her on www.enchantedpartytales.com.
ReplyDeleteShe will be thrilled with these pillowcases.
